Interview with Integral Carp (2026)

Integral Carp // country: US // Genres: Noise Ambient, experimental electronic, industrial

//* all images taken & created by Integral Carp

- What is the meaning and concept behind the name of your music project?

Carp was the original name of my audio experiments. It came from a handle I used online that was inspired by Central Arizona Roleplaying, an informal name for a small tabletop gaming group in the ’80s made up of my brother, a couple of friends, and me. Around that time, CARP was also an identity for an effort to paint others’ lead figures (see PNG) in the late ’80s.

Integral was prepended when I needed to complicate the name, seeing as there were already a few uses of Carp on SoundCloud. I liked its multiple meanings and mathematical associations. And when Lowtax’s girlfriend on Something Awful used Integral, I was struck by its potential as part of a handle.

- tell us about your Biography as artist

I've identified as an artist since childhood and try to look at what others ignore. This includes a foundational fascination with art as a way to express ideas that must be felt to be understood. Combining that with a deep need to understand systems has led to the tracks on SoundCloud and the choice of tools used to produce them.

- which are your music / artistic Influences

My earliest love is the band Art of Noise, which I first encountered during the ’80s breakdancing craze.

- favorite EP/Album composed by you?

The latest tracks on SoundCloud and a few from earlier.

https://soundcloud.com/integral-carp/tracks

https://soundcloud.com/integral-carp/albums

- favorite music platforms? why?

As an artist? SoundCloud. But more by default than by preference. It was a far better fit when community was the focus.

- any funny anecdote in the composition of a track or album?

Pieces That Don't Fit was a false positive. The perspective was tied to a new antidepressant. The view didn't last, for a variety of reasons.

- news for 2026/2027?

I've started experimenting again.

- any message to your listeners?

Reality appears as nested relational systems. Parts sit within parts. Each is shaped by what surrounds it and by what it contains. Understanding of that reality stays local and provisional. Models get made. Experience gets compressed into stories. Predictions form about what comes next. Learning happens when the world resists those predictions.

Truth is not something anyone possesses. It is encountered through constraint. It shows up in what remains reliable under strain. It appears in what survives translation between perspectives. It registers in what keeps imposing a cost when ignored. A worldview remains a working draft that should stay capable of being changed by what it encounters.

This points toward an ethic of humility. It also points toward reciprocity and contact. People receive equal basic standing. They get met where they are. Intelligence means less about having the right model than about remaining responsive to reality, especially when reality shows that the model is incomplete.

Interview with Ourobonic Plague (2026)

https://ourobonicplague.bandcamp.com/

https://ourobonicplague.mmm.page/

-  What is the meaning and concept behind the name of your music project?

Ourobonic Plague is a term or phrase that just came to me out of nowhere, when I was thinking about names for some other project. It didn’t work for that thing but I couldn’t get it out of my head and eventually it became the name I used when I started dabbling with Garageband back in 2010 or so. I figured it indicates the nature of being stuck in a loop, the perils of failing to learn from the past.

-  What equipment do you use to create music?

Ableton - so soft synths, samples and other random recordings I capture here and there -  plus a Rucci maximal drone box and kaoss pads. Lately I've been experimenting with some basic Python scripts to do some weird stuff like generate a midi sequence based on an image.

-  Tell us about your Biography as artist

Briefly… I started dabbling in an attempt to somehow combine what I was hearing in the early days of dubstep with epic drone like Sunn 0)))... it's not exactly what came out at the time… but then I heard Salem and Horse MacGyver and felt like the stuff I was doing fit into this new witch-house thing people were talking about. Over the years since then it's leaned in various new directions, like jungle or hip-hop, but the aim has more or less stayed the same: beats & drones for strange times.

- Which are your music / artistic Influences?

El-p, Dilla, Salem, Vex’d, The Bug, Nine Inch Nails. I get a lot of inspiration from people I've met over the years like Ivens, Diger Rokwell, Ylem, Consulate, and Strunkdts.

Also, less in music, but life and creativity in general: Alan Moore, Grant Morrison, PKD and RAW.

- Favorite EP/Album composed by you?

It's usually whatever's the newest thing, and I have heaps of not-yet-released stuff I think is better than anything out there so far… But I'm particularly proud of G.A: Eight - the finale of this series I've been doing the last 2 years. That drops October 30th and I feel like I stuck the landing on the series in general.

- Favorite music platforms? why?

Bandcamp. It feels more like an indie record store where you can try before you buy than any streaming service.

- Any funny anecdote in the composition of a track or album?

Nothing springs to mind, it's a pretty solitary experience for me… There is one song in my catalogue where I sampled my dog snoring?

- News for 2026/2027?

The Green Annex EP series is coming to an end, and I have a little puzzle involved that leads to a story that kind of provides a little more insight into what that series was all about. That's part of the single coming out called Lull.

After that series… I have a pretty good idea of what's coming next but I don't want to over explain it just yet. If you're interested it'll probably be best to follow on Bandcamp or YouTube rather than anywhere else.

-  Any message to your listeners?

One thing: if you ever need a download for some reason and can't afford to pay please get in touch. Other than that, thanks for listening.

Interview with Lakewaves Trio (2026)

https://LINKTR.EE/GrahamMarlowe_aka_Lakewaves

https://lakewavestrio.bandcamp.com/

https://www.youtube.com/@telegrahamsinspace

https://www.instagram.com/telegrahamsinspace/

Q: What is the meaning and concept behind the name of your music project?

Lakewaves is the solo instrumental electronic moniker of producer Graham Marlowe, a.k.a. Lakewaves, originating from the 2011 track "Lake Waves" (Corduroy Resignation). When performing as the Lakewaves Trio, the project transforms into a neo-retro jazz fusion and psychedelic jam rock experience. Heavily inspired by a Grateful Dead-esque ethos, the Trio thrives on a cinematic, risk-taking shared flow-state. It is a musical space defined by deep improvisational trust, pushing the boundaries of live instrumental music.

Q: What equipment do you use to create music?

Keyboards & synthesizers (me, bandleader - no software, hardware only)

Electric bass

Drums & percussion

Q: Tell us about your Biography as an artist

Emerging from the digital mist of "synthesizer graffiti artist" Graham Marlowe (a.k.a., Lakewaves), Lakewaves Trio crafts the soundtrack to a forgotten midnight. Known for their signature blend of aquatic textures, chopped lounge rhythms, and hazy, nostalgic soundscapes, the project treats music like a VHS tape left out in the rain. For their contribution to the Dawn of Darkness compilation, Lakewaves Trio steers their usual sun-faded yacht into much deeper, murkier waters. They trade the warm glow of mall soft neon for the cold, eerie shadows of the late-night web, proving that even paradise has a dark side.

Q: What are your music / artistic Influences

Psychedelic instrumental, Afrobeat/Afro-funk, trip-hop, Hindustani classical music (ex: tabla/sitar improvisations, like Ravi Shanar's solo albums), jazz from all eras, rock from all eras, indie-rock, film/soundtrack, ambient/prog groups like Tangerine Dream and Ulrich Schnauss, pedal steel acid country (ex: The Grateful Dead - "The Wheel" from Grateful Dead Movie, 1976), "country jazz" (ex: Danny Gatton), Impressionist & Romantic-era piano music, Phish, Joe Russo's Almost Dead, The Black Crowes, Soulive, Medeski Martin & Wood, avant-garde experimental & classical, neo-classical classics like "Phrygian Gates" by John Adams. Funk music, vaporwave, synthwave, Brothertiger, CFCF, Hotel Pools, etc. Kaki King. Ian Ethan Case. Andy McKee. Fingerstyle guitar artists. Def Sonic. Psychobilly and psychedelic country groups like Beachwood Sparks. Neil Young, David Crosby, Frank Zappa's endless array of interesting albums.

- favorite EP/Album composed by you?

For my solo stuff, people like 'Lakewaves - Vol. 1' the most, from way back when...plus the live booleggy tracks like "Secret Beach On a Secret Planet" (Soundcloud)

For the Trio material, Lakewaves Trio's Vol. 2 (2023)Impatient for the Ecstatic. High-intensity grooves searching for immediate spiritual payoff. Explicitly felt on tracks like “Shakedown at the Disco Roll-A-Rena, Feb 11 1979” where Carter-administration melodies collide with grunge.

- favorite music platforms? why?

Instagram - not all friends are created equal, easier to break through the algorithms on there than the overcrowded, sometimes-abysmal Facebook algorithms

Bandcamp: for digital, vinyl-esque listening experience

Soundcloud: primarily for live bootlegs but also have our whole catalog available for streaming on there

YouTube: pro-shot videos galore, promo videos, etc.

- any funny anecdote in the composition of a track or album?

Most of the titles are based off real-life headlines I've found (ex: "Punches Fly Over Prom Princess, October 1981"), real-life occurrences (ex: "California Zephyr Train Leaves One Behind [A Cigarette Break Gone Horribly Awry]" or things I made up that became real (ex: "Finder's Keepers at Fort Knox, Apparently"). I try to emulate The Flaming Lips in that their song titles are bonkers but the coolness of the music allows it to live up to the hype of its title ["Chuck E. Cheese Stakeholders Meeting" by Lakewaves Trio vs. "Virgo Self-Esteem Broadcast" by The Flaming Lips)

- news for 2026/2027?

*New album coming out October 2026 with a side project band, Bruce Wasserstrom's WasserSTORM feat. Lakewaves Trio; album is called Subpoena Colada with artwork done by @spacekatart

*New editions of the JustJams live bootleg mixtape series coming out this month and later 2026

*Performed at InfraSound music festival (may 15 2026), which was a big step for us. We also got into Summer Camp (northern Illinois) but it ended up getting cancelled.

*Performed for a national artist (Luke Schneider) as well as well-known regional acts like Mossmen, this year

*Performed as part of the new Yahara River Night Market series as well as Yahara Distillery

*Crossover into the DJ/dance/house/electronic crowd coming in November when we open up an event in Madison called Rips N' Spins put on by @darkendabe (Dabe Okoli)

Los Búhos de la Logia Negra profundización

/\⭘/\ ⟁ /\⭘/\ ⟁/\⭘/\ ⟁

IN †HE OWL C∆VE ∆"
