STILLBIRTH & B4D-W0LF: ▲WI╪CHBØØK▲/ Black Lodge Music (conversation)

https://vimeo.com/user7675267

How do you create ▲WI╪CHBØØK▲ label?

STILLBIRTH:

I created the Witchbook group which became where Witch House tracks would be debuted and many Witch House collaborations went down. Anyone who was anyone was there, but then the people closest to me saw dollar signs and asked me how i made something from nothing and took notes and created lies about me to slander my name, threated my son's life, and made a clone label of Black Lodge, eternally trying to mimic my historic COVENFVCK compilation and that label became Aural Sects. Where i drew the line wzs when they threatened my son's life so i kicked everyone out of Witchbbok and killed it. Since a ton of copycats were trying to recreate the magic of Witchbook with similar groups there were like 60 Witch Book groups and after i killed Witchbook no one knew which group to go to so it diluted the scene and lost its footing. Yes there are Witch House groups around to this day, but those who were there know that true Witch House (or that wave of it anyway).

But what happened to the label why it was closed?

STILLBIRTH:

I do like some of the artists that continued making wh music, but truly in 2011 we were a literal family and it was the peak of the genre. It was the death of Antonio and greed that marked the death of that wave of it and the most truest wave in my opinion. You can thank Bunny and J. Royster of A u r a l S e  c t s for that. Total posers and clout chasers. They had everyone fooled for a minute, but soon the truth came out and they were over. Also M. Text_beak, who i once thought was a friend, is a total monster as well. I could go more into that if you want to hear about it. I know the dirt on everything, because at one time i was the home of Witch House until i completely walked away from it. Lil peep, suicide boys etc were birthed in Witchbook.

The label died in 2011.

B4D-W0LF:

At the Black Lodge bandcamp, Also all the songs of my project B4D-W0LF included were made in 2014, my graduation year, too. With that we finish the label.

You was only on facebook on those years?

STILLBIRTH: No, also on tumblr and as a souncloud group. The tumblr link still there, but it's a hidden place on the internet.

In one of the old posts:

"So someone said to me that on Tumblr you need to tag everything so people can find your posts in searches but you see this is a private party so you either know about it or you don’t. I’m not trying to win the hearts of the Tumblr masses. I like a minimalist streamlined approach as well. Less talk. More rawk. Eye candy & food for thought. Nuff said."

Which was some of your main artists involved on your labels?

STILLBIRTH: They're all basically people I knew back then. Aubrey rules and was named after Aubrey Plaza, also Bands like Crave, Cloaks & CRIM3S. And of course Antonio Urdiales. ///King Charlez is literally the only track that Charli XCX did under a pseudonym in her entire career is on COVENFVCK v/a compilation.

B4D-W0LF: At Black Lodge bandcamp it's the only place to get the last of Antonio's songs on the internet

What you are making after that?

B4D-W0LF:

I later got into Synthwave, Vaporwave, DNB, Jungle, and Trap, and right before I got into OldSchool Dubstep. I do a lot of different genres now, been trying to get a new computer.

All that music is directly on B4D-W0LF bandcamp page:

https://b4d-w0lf.bandcamp.com/music

So, first witchbook was a facebook music group, please tell me more about it

STILLBIRTH:

This was supposed to say 60 witch house groups* not witch book groups btw. When I created Witcbook it was when there were literally only 3 witch house artists and they were my friends and I was inspired by the music so much I wanted others to hear about it so i created Witchbook and also those artists were getting ripped off by their labels so I wanted to create a label where the artists were paid properly for their works, but it was all stolen out from under me before I could. Witch house initially was a prank/joke on the Music Industry. Us thumbing our noses at them, but the music was so good it became a legitimate music genre. Also Pitchfork covering it helped it become more of a "real thing".

Any plans to make the label active again?

B4D-W0LF:

I don't feel like I can for a while I need a computer again, sorry

Any other thing about the old school movement that you want to say:

STILLBIRTH:

Bandcamp took down my makeshift WB logo all the time. I just kept putting it back up.

Wh was designed as a FU to the music industry. There are no rules.
